Some Context

I am an artist and academic from Bangalore, India. My work is rooted in practice-based research and engages with education, mental health, gender, and the environment. The body plays a central role in my process, which is located within social, cultural and political contexts. My work is collaborative and emergent in nature and takes the shape of performing, directing, curating, teaching, writing, and more recently, experimental film and audio work. Over the last 20 years my work has been presented through conferences, festivals, residencies and publications, in cities across the world such as Sydney, Shanghai, Kathmandu, Singapore, London, New York and several cities in India.

I began dancing professionally in 1999 under (late) Guru Maya Rao and gained a BA in Kathak and Choreography. Later I earned a Professional Diploma in Dance Studies from Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance (UK) and also an MA (with distinction) in Dance and Education from the Royal Academy of Dance (UK). I am now a doctoral scholar at the Center of Excellence in Teacher Education, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai where my research focuses on Embodied Pedagogy in Teacher Education.

If you are interested in working with me here are a few ways that I can think of:
Learning/mentorship: Where I design and lead workshops, training programs or one-on-one mentoring.
Collaborating: Where we develop an idea or theme jointly to create something together.
Commissioning: Where you have an idea or project and would like me to contribute my expertise.

Iā€™m open to other ways of working together too, so if you have any other ideas, get in touch.
